The morning sunlight filtering through the canyon woods had a mysterious feeling.  The freshness of the air and the tranquility provided an eternal memory in my mind. Lotus leaves provided endless shapes and colors, especially moved by breeze.  The abstract shapes of the leaves create a rhyme of movement.   When I walked by these vendors during a trip to China, the bright sun caused a strong contrast that caught my eyes.  At the moment, I knew that I would paint this scene.  The indigenous characters are also attractive to me.  Different geometry shapes interweave together and are enhanced with different colors and textures.  The setting tends to evoke the spirit of Chinese scholars.  Blue flower ceramics are Chinese favorite.  I let them blend into an oriental setting.  I was looking for an oriental feeling, yet providing a peaceful charm.
