Diana's interest in the figure led her to an involvement with nuances of shapes and forms suggested by the mood of a pose.
In painting, these shapes and forms become veils of light and color.
The same elements also appear in her landscapes, still life and floral studies.
LaCom, who cites as influences Picasso's lithographs, Cauguin's color and richness, and Matisse, believes that artists need firm grounding in drawing, color and design as well as learning to observe with clarity and insight.
She works in acrylic washes, very similar to watercolor. Then, she gradually moves into darker, heavier pigments and dry brushes against the grain of the
canvas.
