Nearly 18,000 students attend East Carolina University.
The campus is in Greenville, a rapid growing city in the eastern part of the state. A business, cultural,
educational, and medical hub of the region. Greenville is
within a two-hour drive to the state capital, Raleigh, and Atlantic
Coast beaches. Burlington Industries, Cotton Inc., Collins and
Aikman, and Culp Industries are among the textile companies in this
region.
Textile courses are conducted in the Leo W. Jenkins Fine Arts
Center, which houses faculty and administrative offices; three
exhibition areas include the newly renovated Wellington B. Gray
Gallery. Five rooms house the equipment and facilities
necessary for introductory and advanced works in weaving, off-loom, dyeing, and printing
processes. Multi-harness looms, sewing machines, printing
tables, dye sinks, and steaming facilities are available. The
textile area is equipped with its own computer lab offering various
software packages including Pointcarre.
