Fabric Collage 1
Home Up Fabric Collage 1 Fabric Collage 2

Below is a brief list of the materials I used for this landscape:
1. Several pieces of fabric scrapes with trees, rocks, and objects.
2. A piece of white muslin as our foundation.
3. Some two-sided fusing web (Check your local quilt store for fusing web and follow its instructions to pre-fuse your fabrics).           by Sanchia Lin

The approach in creating this piece of landscape is more like if you are doing a fabric collage.  We are using a piece of white muslin as our foundation.  Then we cut several panels or large pieces of fabrics to cover the foundation.  However, we have to pre fuse the fabrics by two-sided fusing web before we can cut them into the shapes.  Then, we peel off the web liner when we do our layout on the muslin.  After we feel that we like our arrangement, we have to iron it.  Now, the project is finished and ready for framing as a fine art fabric collage.

Developing a Design

As you can see from the thumbnail picture at the top, the approach to this piece of fabric landscape is different from the one we had before.  Here, we arranged our fabrics to develop its depth.  Check our page- Fabric Collage for comparison.

Sometimes, developing a design just like when you are cooking a meal.  You take whatever materials you have and make it work for you.  I like fabric collage very much because it has me creating art works from fabric scrapes.  Let me know how you like it.  Send me your feedback information or come chat with me!
