Home Up Fabric Collage 1 Fabric Collage 2

Below is a brief list of the materials I used for this collage work:
1. Several pieces of fabric scrapes.
2. A piece of white muslin as the foundation.
3. Some two-sided fusing web (Check your local quilt store for fusing web and follow its instructions to pre-fuse your fabrics).

Sometimes when we take a fresh look at the materials and stretch the boundaries of convention, we can create a piece of interesting fabric collages.  This piece of fabric collage was featured in the 2001 Juried All Media Exhibition at the Palos Verdes Art Center, Beckstrand Gallery, California.

Developing a Design

As you can see from the thumbnail picture at the top, the approach to this piece of fabric collage is different from the one we had before.  Here, we arranged our fabrics to develop its areas of interest.  Check our pages- Fabric Collages for comparison.

I had a piece of art work- a picture of the space shuttle transferred on to a fabric.  Because it is too small for any work , I had to put it aside with other fabric scrapes.  One day, I went through my scrapes.  Suddenly, a piece of holiday fabric got my eyes.  I turned over the back of fabric.  The texture of fabric was so interesting.  I wanted to save it for future use.  When I turned back to the front side to see the writing, I saw the word "peace", the image of space shuttle popped into my mind.  I knew I could use the word and my photo-transfer work as the center of interest.  Gradually, I build up my work.  Let me know how you like it.  Send me your feedback information or come chat with me!
