Preparing students with a solid foundation in textile
design
The Iowa State University is organized into
nine colleges. The College of Design offers six academic
programs. The curriculum in art and design leading to the BFA
degree in Integrated Studio Arts (ISA), is an integrative program
that allows students to select focused study.
Students enter the Integrated Studio Arts
(ISA) program in their sophomore year after completing the college
core requirements. During their sophomore years, students
enroll in four studio courses that are each comprised of two
eight-week long intensives that introduce them to each of the studio
areas. They then select with the help of a faculty advisor, an
area of focused study.
Students awarded a BFA in studio arts must
complete a professional practice seminar that concludes with an
exhibition of their finest work. As one of the ISA offerings,
the fiber area prepares students with a solid foundation in woven
and surface design.
