The Art Museum Council of LACMA
Founded in 1952, the Art Museum Council is
LACMA's oldest support organization. The
council has raised funds for 81 acquisitions for the museums permanent
collection, contributed to the purchase of another 15, and helped underwrite
major expositions.
Through its popular art and architecture
tour each April, the council provides an opportunity for participants to view
some of Los Angeles most important private collections and architectural gems.
In addition, council members operate the
successful art rental and sales gallery at the museum, which provides a forum
for emerging southern California artists and an opportunity for museum members
to rent and purchase art for their homes and business.
