Taking shows on the roadSome Huntington shows don't travel in their original form but are given new life as facsimile exhibits. By combining reproductions of rare materials with interpretive text written by the curators, theses panel exhibits can tour almost indefinitely without putting original materials at risk. The Library's George Washington and "Votes for Women" exhibits are two recent examples.Currently making an extended tour of libraries across the country is the facsimile exhibit "Forever Free: Abraham Lincoln's Journey to Emancipation," curated by John Rhodehamel and funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Launched in 2003, this powerful and thought-provoking display has reached thousands of people to date and will take its message even further as its "road show" continues for several years to come. Please check Shows for more information
