The Split Rock
Arts Program
The Split Rock Arts Program is the University of Minnesota's summer series of week-long workshops in visual arts, design, creative writing, and creativity enhancement. The program is held over five weeks during July and Aug. at the University's Duluth Campus, located on the hills overlooking Lake Superior. The 2005 series offers 46 workshops that serve artists of all interests, background, and skill levels. Similarly, the workshops are design to include a variety of approaches to art forms, media and methods. The faculty are accomplished, practicing writers and visual artists; the participants, dedicated and eager; and the program's small class size allows for a significant one-to-one contact between instructor and participant. Split Rock also offers retreats at the University's Cloquet Forestry Center. Away from the demands of daily life, Split Rock participants revel in having the time and space to explore art without interruption, and in belonging to an inviting and supportive artists' community. An online catalog and registration forms may be found at www.cce.umn.edu/aplitrockarts.
