Exploring visual thinking and creativity
The department of textiles, clothing and
design is located in the Home Economics building on UN_L's east
campus. This facility contains fully equipped design and
apparel studios, digital studios, a Mimaki TX1600-S textile printer,
surface design and weaving studios, the Robert Hillestad Textile
Gallery, and the International Quilt Study Center.
A 30,000square feet state-of-the-art
building designed by Robert A. M. Stern Associates of New York will
soon be built to house the International Quilt Study Center and its
collections, further expanding the available facilities at students'
disposal.
Designers and artists with national and
international reputations in the textile and apparel fields are
frequent subjects of invitational exhibitions in the gallery and regularly
conduct workshops or present lectures for students.
